AstraZeneca has launched an advertising campaign aimed at helping customers save more money on generic medications.
The advertising campaign, featuring two ads, is set to be launched in the spring of 2021, with both advertisements aimed at consumers and doctors who may have used generic Nexium in the past.
The advertising campaign will be sponsored by AstraZeneca's AstraZeneca NEXIUM (esomeprazole magnesium), which is owned by Eli Lilly & Company, which is based in the UK.
Nexium was first approved for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in 2000 and has been available since then for more than two decades, with some indications now being added.
Nexium is the first drug in the class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which reduce stomach acid production and promote healing.
Esomeprazole is also used to treat ulcers, peptic ulcers and certain types of stomach and intestine damage.
Nexium is the first drug approved for this indication and has since been available on prescription in the United States.
Esomeprazole is also the first to be approved for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in combination with other drugs, including albuterol, which belongs to a class of drugs known as bronchodilators.
Nexium is not available for generic use, however, as the patent for the drug expires in the US in 2019.
Esomeprazole is one of two proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) that are currently in clinical trials, and the other is currently under review for use in combination with other drugs.
Nexium was approved for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in 2000 and has been available since then for more than two decades, with some indications now being added.
The medication works by reducing stomach acid production by constricting the stomach's food pipe's food supply. As a result, it reduces the amount of food that reaches the esophagus and helps heal damage to the esophagus.
In a recent article in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, researchers found that the drug, which is marketed as Nexium, can cause symptoms of GERD if used long-term.
AstraZeneca has also launched an advertising campaign to encourage customers to save on brand-name drugs, as well as to give away coupons and savings cards.
The ads are sponsored by AstraZeneca, and the advertising will be available on social media and on the website of AstraZeneca.
In addition to the campaign, AstraZeneca has also partnered with GlaxoSmithKline to offer generic versions of Nexium.
It is used in the treatment of GERD, peptic ulcers, and certain types of stomach and intestine damage.
The medication is not available for generic use, however, as the patent for the drug expires in the US in 2019.
